Walk and Talk Therapy

What is Walk and Talk Therapy?

Walk and talk therapy combines individual talk therapy with gentle movement outdoors. Client and therapist walk side by side, at the client’s chosen pace, creating a more open and relaxed dynamic. Some people find it easier to process and express their emotions this way.

How does Walk and Talk Therapy Work?

We will meet in my office waiting room and walk from there. Alta Plaza Park is one block away and Lafayette Park is also nearby. As we walk, we may take time to sit and reflect. I always let the client set the pace. If you don’t feel like walking on any particular day, we can always meet at my office or online instead.

Is Walk and Talk Therapy Right for Me?

My clients who choose this form of therapy often have a love of nature and enjoy the opportunity to practice mindfulness outdoors. Many come from a job in which they sit at a desk all day and find that a therapeutic walk provides a good opportunity for self care.
